BAPLA launch The BAPLA Academy
BAPLA The British Association of Picture Libraries and Agencies has launched a new initiative and web site called The
BAPLA Academy aimed at proving help and guidance for budding photographers.
BAPLA Executive Director Simon Cliffe
“Anyone armed with a camera and some broadband can strive to be a published photographer, which is good, but it does risk flooding the commercial market and it leaves semi-professionals and good amateurs at risk of being exploited. So, through our new platform, we’re offering people opportunities to help them get better at photography, give them chances to expose their work to the commercial picture industry and the public through the BAPLA Academy Top 10, and, help them learn how to better protect themselves and their work.
Members can learn through our online coaching models created by some of the commercial picture industry’s leading people, submit their work to be reviewed by top Picture Editors, and, through our online shop, members have a place to try and sell their work as prints to the public.”

"We welcome all initiatives that provide education and guidance, from copyright to composition our business can be tricky to navigate around, so all credit to BAPLA for providing this resource."
Alamy is supporting the project by providing expert advice and has already begun to participate in online critiques of photographers work.
